NEWBORN SCREENING CENTER - Southern Luzon

Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center (DMMC), a tertiary hospital in Tanauan City, has been selected by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Newborn Screening Reference Center (NSRC) as the host institution for NSC in Southern Luzon. DMMC started running newborn screening samples from Region 4-A on September 2013. In 2021, the hosting of NSC-SL was transferred to DMMC Institute of Health Sciences, Inc.

Newborn Screening is a public health program that aims to ensure that all babies born in our country [Philippines] undergo screening for early identification of disorders (inborn errors of metabolism) that can lead to mental retardation and death.
